ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION
A. Selection process is done in each
class (This can be used as additional score for mid-term test/Written Test):
(3-5 November 2014)
a. Essay writing is participated by all
students each class.
b. The students write the essay based
on the provided topics at home.
c. The length of the essay is 200-250
words.
d. The jury is the lecturer of the
class.
e. The jury choose a winner (the best
essay) to represent the class in the class competition and the name of the
winner is submitted to LBB/Mas David on 5 November 2014.
f. Marking Criteria: Content, Organization, Vocabulary and Language Use,
Grammar Usage, and mechanics. (The evaluation rubric is attached).
B.
Class Competition: (10 November 2014)
a. Each class delegates one student to
participate in the competition (A selected student from the previous
competition).
b. The essay writing competition is
conducted in a class (The students write the essay in the class based on the
provided topics before).
c. The length of the essay is 250-300
words.
d. Maximum allotted time is 90 minutes.
e. Marking Criteria: Content, Organization, Vocabulary and Language Use,
Grammar Usage, and mechanics. (The evaluation rubric is attached).
Essay Topics (Choose one of them):
1. Childhood Event. Choose a vivid time from your childhood--You might think of
the first time that you rode a bike to school, of a time when you went to the
principal's office, earning money to buy something that you really wanted, and
so on. Narrate the events related to the childhood memory that you've
chosen so that your readers will understand why the event was important and
memorable.
2. A person you admire: Describe a person you admire. This could be a teacher, a
politician, an actor or actress, a scientist, or others. Show the reader not
only what the person look like but also how the person behaves, acts, speaks
and so on.

STORY TELLING COMPETITION
A.
Selection process is done in each class (This can be
used as additional score for mid-term test/Spoken Test). (3-5 November 2014)
a. Story telling is participated by all
students each class.
b. Maximum allotted time is 3 minutes
and the theme of the story is free
c. The jury is the lecturer of the
class.
d. The jury
choose a winner to represent the class in the next competition.
d. Marking Criteria:
Intonation,
Pronunciation, Content, Performance (Self Confidence, Body Language and Facial
Expressions).
e. The name of the winner (class
representative) is submitted to LBB/to Mas David on 5 November 2014).
B.
Class Competition: (10 November 2014)
a. Each class delegates one student to
participate in the competition (A selected student from the previous
competition).
b. The competition will be held in
several rooms (each room consists of around ten contestants and two to three juries).
c. It is free to use any media.
d. The juries take a winner in each
room.
e. The winners must perform in the
final stage of competition with different juries. The final stage will be
held on 12 November 2014.
f.
Maximum allotted time is 7 minutes.
g. Marking Criteria:
Intonation,
Pronunciation, Content, Performance (Costume, Self
Confidence, Body Language and Facial Expressions).
C.
Final Competition (Only for Story Telling) : (12
November 2014).
The selected winners from each room
should compete in this final stage. This will be held in the 4th
floor of STAIN Hall.
